Welcome to Part 5 of our 5-Part Fitness Foundations Mini-Course!

Fitness Foundations: Part 5

Creating your personal workout program.

If you’ve already had a program created for you by a trainer, follow the plan that your trainer has outlined for you.

Today, we’re going to help set you up with a basic workout program.

When it comes to staying consistent, it’s almost impossible to do without having a plan.

While we absolutely encourage exploring all the different options available at the club (classes, swimming, weights, etc.) it can be really helpful to have a foundational program to follow.

Lifting weights and resistance training in general is one of the best forms of exercise for overall health and conditioning. It not only strengthens your muscles, bones, and joints, it also improves your cardiovascular function and can greatly improve your metabolism (more muscle = more calories).

The good news is that you don’t need to be in the gym every day lifting like a bodybuilder to get those benefits. In fact, most of those benefits come from even lifting a few days per week.

The most efficient and effective way to start a weightlifting program is to focus on simple full-body workouts that hit all of your muscles. That is why we put together a simple 3-day per week workout program.

You’ll also find suggestions for things you can do on your off days, which are a great time for active recovery.

If you try the program and find that you need more help, feel free to email, call, or talk to the front desk at any point and we can connect you with one of our highly-qualified trainers who can help design a more customized program to fit your needs.

Homework!

Download the workout program and try it out! If you’ve got another program you’re already following, make sure it’s suitable for your current needs and is something you’re able to follow consistently and safely.
